Chania Estate is one of the only medium scale family owned farms in Kenya today along with its smaller sister farm Oreti Estate whose we have also featured this year. The farms are around 30 miles from the capital Nairobi and are situated along the Thika river in the Kiambu County. The farms have a long and proud family owned history with the Harries family producing coffee at Chania since 1926.

Boyce Harries today manages the farm and is an innovative and quality minded producer with a great emphasis on separating varietals on the farm and newer processing  methods that are a rarity in Kenya. This lot is a classic washed processed coffee from his SL28, SL34 and Ruiru 11 trees. The Harries family is extremely active in the local community, donating more than 50 acres of land to the Thika Municipal Council and cofounding the Wabeni Technical Institute. The institute seeks to teach underprivileged children practical skills which can help them make a living.
