Worka is a famed coffee producing area of Yirgacheffe which lies inside Ethiopia's Gedeo zone. Coffee here is grown by a collection of small holder farmers who farm their coffee at high altitudes ranging from 2000 through to 2200 masl.
Farmers here grow a range of trees that originate from the areas Heirloom stock. Coffees from Yirgacheffe and Worka in particular are known for incredible stone fruit and a citrus forward acidity with delicate florals.
Coffee is delivered in cherry form where it is depulped and fermented the same day into tanks of water, where it ferments for 24–48 hours. It is then washed and spread on raised beds to dry, which takes 10–12 days.
